Act No. 60-2018

To amend Article 6 of Act No 180-1998
On January 27, 2018, the Governor of Puerto Rico signed H.R. Bill 96 into Act No. 60-2018. This Act amends Article 6 of Act No. 180-1998 in order to prohibit employers in the private sector from using the employee’s justified sick leave absences as an efficiency criteria during the evaluation process to consider them for a salary increase or a promotion. Also, Act No. 60-2018 prohibits employers from using the employees justified sick leave absences to validate the imposition of a disciplinary action, such as suspension or termination of employment.
